Stocha

Energy and environment simulation

Crews, vessels and plant windows serve repair queues and outage schedules. Pick the decision, such as how many crews or which work package sets the restart date, and test it before you commit.

Each is a scenario Stocha is built to model.

Wind and solar maintenance crew

Decision: which crew and vessel plan keeps faults open the shortest time? The model sends each fault to a crew that needs a part and a safe window. You read the time a fault stays open with its confidence interval for each plan.

What flows
Turbine fault, panel fault, planned service visit, spare part request
What is scarce
Technician teams, crew transfer vessels, cranes, weather windows
Where it waits
Fault backlog by priority, vessel boarding queue, parts waiting for delivery

Questions you can test

  • How many technician teams keep the open fault backlog from growing in winter?
  • Does a second vessel cut waiting time more than a larger crew on the first one?
  • What happens to downtime when planned services and urgent faults compete for the same team?
  • How much does a stricter weather limit lengthen the wait for a repair?
  • Which fault type drives most of the queue at the port?

Grid restoration and storage dispatch

Decision: how many crews and which switching sequence restore customers fastest after a storm? The model sends outage tickets to crews, with storage dispatch rules that return power to some customers early. You read the customer wait for power and the slowest step with confidence intervals.

What flows
Outage ticket, switching request, battery dispatch call
What is scarce
Line crews, control room operators, bucket trucks, battery cycles
Where it waits
Tickets waiting for fault location, switching queue, repairs waiting for a crew

Questions you can test

  • How many crews clear a storm surge within the target restoration time?
  • Does an earlier call for mutual-aid crews pay off, or does the extra crew wait idle?
  • Which step holds tickets longest: location, switching or repair?
  • How often does the battery run out of charge before the repair ends?
  • What changes if two control room operators are on shift instead of one?

Hydrogen and green fuel supply chain

Decision: which link limits deliveries, and what does an outage cost downstream? The model sends batches through electrolyzer, storage and trailer loading bay, using your batch sizes, trip times and outage pattern. You read deliveries with their confidence interval.

What flows
Production batch, tube trailer load, pipeline delivery order
What is scarce
Electrolyzer trains, compressors, loading bays, tube trailers
Where it waits
Batches waiting for storage space, trailers waiting for a bay, orders waiting for stock

Questions you can test

  • How many trailers keep delivery orders from backing up during a long outage?
  • Does a second loading bay help, or does storage space limit the chain first?
  • How long can an electrolyzer stay down before the buyer goes short?
  • What batch size balances loading time against storage fill?

Carbon capture and nuclear outage

Decision: which work package or shortage pushes the restart date? The model schedules work packages that compete for specialist crews, cranes and inspection slots, with your durations and crew counts. You read the restart date with its confidence interval before the shutdown begins.

What flows
Work package, inspection request, rework order
What is scarce
Welding crews, riggers, cranes, inspection slots
Where it waits
Packages waiting for a crew, lifts waiting for a crane, packages waiting for inspection

Questions you can test

  • Which work package most often sets the restart date?
  • Does a second crane or a third welding crew shorten the outage more?
  • How many inspection slots are enough before they stop being the limit?
  • What does a failed inspection cost in days once rework queues are counted?
  • How wide is the spread in finish time across repeated runs of the same plan?

Green data center and cooling operations

Decision: where does one more technician or chiller pay off? The model sends rack requests, fault tickets and cooling failures to the same limits. You read ticket wait and requests blocked with confidence intervals.

What flows
Rack install request, maintenance ticket, cooling fault
What is scarce
Technicians, spare power slots, spare cooling slots, chillers
Where it waits
Install requests waiting for capacity, tickets waiting for a technician

Questions you can test

  • How many technicians keep install requests and urgent tickets both under control?
  • Does a standby chiller shorten install waits more than another technician?
  • How long do installs pause after a cooling fault?
  • What priority order for tickets keeps live racks safest without starving installs?

Recycling and critical materials flow

Decision: does more equipment or a better schedule lift throughput? The model sends mixed loads through each step and shows the wait at each. You read the limiting step and throughput with confidence intervals.

What flows
Inbound truck, sorted stream, bale or batch of recovered material
What is scarce
Sorters, shredders, truck docks, storage bays
Where it waits
Trucks waiting for a dock, material waiting for a sorter, bulky items waiting for the shredder

Questions you can test

  • Which stage limits the tonnage the plant can process in a shift?
  • Would a second shredder help, or does sorting stall the line first?
  • How often do full bays block the docks?
  • What do longer dock hours do to truck waiting time?
  • Does separating streams earlier reduce the load on the shredder?

Water utility and ocean field operations

Decision: what fleet size, roster and priority rule fit the weather uncertainty? The model sends leak repairs and sampling trips to crews and vessels that the weather may hold. You read the repair wait and the planned work delayed with confidence intervals.

What flows
Leak repair ticket, sampling job, outfall inspection
What is scarce
Repair crews, vans and excavators, survey vessels, sea-state windows
Where it waits
Tickets waiting for a crew, sampling jobs waiting for a vessel

Questions you can test

  • How many crews hold the repair backlog steady after a cold snap?
  • Would a second vessel clear delayed sampling jobs faster than extending weekend cover?
  • What does giving leaks priority do to the planned sampling schedule?
  • How long does a repair wait when excavators are also on a capital project?
